Darnah Gallery
“Darnah,” meaning "Our Home" in Arabic, is not just a shop—it's a celebration of Palestinian art and culture. Located in the heart of Wadi Nisnas, Haifa's oldest neighborhood, our gallery is a haven for those seeking unique, handmade objects that tell a story.
Founded by the mother-daughter duo Marihan and Luris Khoury, Darnah brings together a wealth of experience and passion for art. Marihan, a lawyer, psychotherapist, and art guide, along with Luris, an architecture and interior design student, work together to create and curate products that blend modern ideas with rich Palestinian heritage.
A Collaborative Journey
At Darnah, we take pride in producing our own line of items. Every design is conceptualized by Luris, who sketches the initial ideas, while Marihan transforms them into practical and usable pieces. Marihan also creates and designs our unique bags, purses, Tatreez textiles, and more. This collaboration results in products that reflect our deep connection to Palestinian culture.
Workshops
Our gallery hosts a variety of evening events and workshops, ranging from oud music and poetry sessions to Palestinian embroidery (Tatreez) and microhistory tours, providing a platform for Palestinian culture to thrive.
Beyond Letters
The spirit of Darnah is also reflected in our logo, inspired by the year 1948—the Nakba. The Arabic alphabet of "Darnah" is shaped to represent the number "48," serving as a poignant reminder of this significant year in Palestinian history.
Beyond our own creations, Darnah is dedicated to showcasing the work of talented Palestinian artists, designers, and associations from across the region, including the occupied Palestinian territory, the West Bank, and the diaspora. We collaborate with local partners to promote sustainability and uplift the creativity of these artisans.
Honoring Marihan's Artistic Activism
It is worth mentioning that Marihan has been recognized for her activism and involvement in the art community, receiving awards in Jordan and Georgia for her contributions. Her dedication has not only enriched the cultural landscape but also strengthened the ties between art and heritage in the region.
Our Shop
With our roots in Haifa, we've expanded our presence with a new store in Amman, Jordan, and selling points in Jerusalem, dubai and abu dhabi. Darnah has also made its mark internationally, participating in markets and workshops in the UAE, Switzerland, Jordan, and beyond.
